Thai Oil thanks the Ministry of Labor for helping mediate until the subcontractors of the CFP project who had already received money from Thai Oil Public Company Limited were able to pay their wages after failing to pay, leading to long-term protests.
PTT Oil and Retail Public Company Limited announced that in the case of a group of laborers gathering on Sukhumvit Road in front of PTT Oil Refinery, Sri Racha District, Chonburi Province, continuously since July 24, 2024, due to not receiving wages from subcontractors of UJV – Samsung EandA (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Petrofac South East Asia Pte. Ltd., and Saipem Singapore Pte. Ltd. (‘UJV – Samsung, Petrofac and Saipem’), the Ministry of Labor and representatives of UJV – Samsung, Petrofac and Saipem held a meeting to discuss ways to help the group of laborers who did not receive wages, with PTT Oil as an observer. The conclusion was that UJV – Samsung, Petrofac and Saipem agreed to use the money to pay outstanding wages to employees on August 14, 2024, in accorda
nce with the two orders of the Labor Inspector (No. 20/2024 and 21/2024) by the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare. will supervise the mechanism and conditions for paying outstanding wages in full. On August 14, 2024, Thai Oil received a report that STP Corporation Co., Ltd. (STP) and SCI Siam Korea Industrial Co., Ltd. (SCI) had paid outstanding wages to employees, resulting in the group of employees ending their rally in front of Thai Oil Refinery at 6:15 p.m.
‘I would like to thank the relevant government agencies, especially Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labor, executives of the Ministry of Labor, Department of Labor Protection and Welfare, Chonburi Provincial Labor Protection and Welfare Office, who helped coordinate and push for the groups of workers who gathered to receive their outstanding wages, which helped ease the situation and alleviate the suffering of the groups of workers, and they were able to return to work as usual,’ said Thai Oil Public Company Limited.
