Bangkok: The Transport Company is gearing up to accommodate a significant increase in travelers during the upcoming long holiday from May 31 to June 3. It is anticipated that between 90,000 to 100,000 passengers will travel daily, both on outbound and return trips.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchawan Promratham, Acting Director and Managing Director of Transport Co., Ltd., stated that extensive preparations are underway to ensure smooth travel by bus during the holiday period commemorating Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana’s birthday. With a four-day break, many are expected to return to their provinces, leading to an estimated 90,000-100,000 passengers traveling daily. Approximately 6,000-7,000 buses, including those operated by joint ventures, will be utilized each day.
Transport Company Limited and joint venture operators have been directed to rigorously inspect bus readiness and safety equipment, especially given the frequent rains that heighten accident risks. Drivers are required to rest adequately, undergo drug and alcohol testing, adhere to traffic laws, and exercise heightened caution on rain-affected routes. For long routes exceeding four hours, two drivers will be assigned. Passengers are advised to wear seatbelts throughout their journey to ensure safety and align with the Ministry of Transport’s policy to enhance public confidence in public transportation.
