Customs Department Seizes Over 100,000 E-Cigarettes Hidden in Containers


Chonburi: The Customs Department, in cooperation with relevant agencies, seized more than 100,000 pieces of e-cigarettes worth 21.86 million baht. Mr. Thirach Attanavanich, Director-General of the Customs Department, revealed that according to the Prime Minister’s policy to seriously suppress smuggling and exporting of e-cigarettes, results must be seen within 30 days from February 2025, especially among students and shops around educational institutions for the safety and good health of the public.



According to Thai News Agency, on March 17, 2025, the Customs Department, the Department of Special Investigation, the Royal Thai Police, and the Provincial Police Region 2, together with relevant agencies, inspected four containers of stranded goods at the Laem Chabang Port Customs Office in Chonburi Province. They found e-cigarettes hidden among other goods. Container 1 contained 320 boxes of disposable e-cigarettes (total 48,000 pieces) worth 8,640,000 baht. Container 2 contained 178 boxes of disposable e-cigarettes (total 36,170 pieces) worth 6,510,600 baht.



Further inspections revealed that Cabinet 3 contained 59 boxes of disposable e-cigarettes (total 13,930 pieces) worth 2,507,400 baht, while Cabinet 4 contained 103 boxes of disposable e-cigarettes (total 23,390 pieces) worth 4,210,200 baht. In total, there were 660 boxes (total 121,490 pieces) valued at 21,868,200 baht. This is considered an illegal act and must be prosecuted strictly.
