Customs seizes unlicensed goods


Customs seizes unlicensed goods, obscene materials, shark fins, totaling more than 40 million baht.

Mr. Panthong Loykulnan, spokesman of the Customs Department, revealed that the Customs Department has requested a court warrant to search and seize substandard goods from warehouses storing goods waiting to be sold in large quantities and has increased the random inspection of product containers to prevent substandard goods from passing out of Customs custody before receiving permission from TISI, the Ministry of Industry, the Department of Fisheries, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, and the Department of Disease Control to prevent the smuggling of live animals, animal carcasses, or protected wild plants into the country.

Previously, the Investigation and Suppression Division, together with the Lat Krabang Customs Office, seized imported goods from China, declared as LED light bulbs, totaling 169,000 pieces, valued at 549,492 baht, without TIS standards. The inspection found
dried shark skins of various species, dried shark fins of various species, dried stingray skins of various species, and dried fish internal organs, totaling 10 tons, valued at 40 million baht. Such actions are illegal under customs laws and laws of relevant agencies.

On October 17, 2024, the Nakhon Phanom Customs Department inspected the goods according to the import declaration and found 400 male prosthetic organs (sex toys) worth 200,000 baht. The Customs Department continues to strictly inspect the import and export of goods to ensure compliance with customs laws and other related laws to prevent the illegal import of goods.
