Dao Khanong Checkpoint Entrance to Reopen After Accelerated Debris Removal


Bangkok: Plans are underway to open the entrance area of ??Dao Khanong checkpoint this Thursday. The governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) revealed that the removal of the collapsed bridge beams is progressing faster than planned, allowing for the reopening.



According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surachet Laopoolsuk, Governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), Ministry of Transport, stated that the debris removal work has been expedited to 22 hours per day, surpassing the initial schedule. The surface has been repaved, and traffic lines have been restored to their original condition. Additionally, the main truss supporting the concrete has been dismantled. The Council of Engineers has been invited to inspect the area, while EXAT has established a fact-finding committee to investigate the incident, with findings expected within 20 days.



The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) is set to reopen the Dao Khanong checkpoint entrance on Thursday morning, facilitating travel into the city. The EXAT, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB), has organized traffic management officers to ensure a smooth transition for the public.



Mr. Surachet expressed condolences to the families affected by the incident and apologized to the public. He emphasized his commitment to swiftly repairing the entrance area to resume its operation. The broken bridge is expected to be fully repaired within 30 days. Additionally, he assured that fair compensation will be provided to the victims and that any negligence by officers will result in disciplinary action and compensation for the damages incurred.
