Lamphun: The Department of Business Development has initiated the ‘L – U – C – K’ route, linking the ‘Mee Dee’ community product markets across four provinces: Lamphun, Udon Thani, Chumphon, and Kalasin. This project aims to convey the distinctive identity of each area, promote the strengths of the community, and elevate the grassroots economic market for sustainable growth. The first route introduced is “Lamphun Mee Dee”.
According to Thai News Agency, Mrs. Aromon Sapphawitham, Director-General of the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, visited Lamphun Province to enhance the value of community products under the ‘L – U – C – K’ route. This initiative covers four provinces: ‘(L) Lamphun Mee Dee’, ‘(U) Udon Thani Mee Dee’, ‘(K) Kalasin Mee Dee’, and ‘(C) Chumphon Mee Dee’. The concept revolves around communicating ‘love’ in community products, selecting environmentally friendly products, and reflecting good fortune through each community’s culture, wisdom, lifestyle, faith, and beliefs.
The first visit to Lamphun Province, known as the ‘Lamphun Mee Dee’ route, highlights the cultural charm and lifestyle of the Lanna people. This initiative introduces a market route connecting six community products with local identity and wisdom. The journey begins with experiencing the local way of life through ‘Kalamae Longyai Ta Chang’, a traditional dish made from Nong Long longans. The tour continues with ‘Makhua Puang Brand Spice Powder’, a modern spice powder using local spices and innovations. Creative fiber handicrafts like ‘Ancient Karen woven fabric by TAKI’ showcase traditional weaving techniques, while ‘Ban Ko Tung hand-woven cotton fabric’ presents organic cotton products. ‘Chuan Long Ceramics’ offers contemporary pottery inspired by the celadon pottery of the Longchuan group in China, and ‘Pan Sapa Dong Luang’ features sculptures made from local clay and sand, reflecting the identity of Lamphun.
The LUCK route is designed to spark new marketing opportunities for community product entrepreneurs by sharing the unique stories of each locality. This initiative aims to enhance competitiveness and drive the grassroots economy towards sustainable growth. Following the ‘Lamphun Mee Dee’ route, the northeastern routes ‘Udon Thani Mee Dee’ and ‘Kalasin Mee Dee’ are scheduled for visits between June 17-18, 2025, with ‘Chumphon Mee Dee’ planned for late June 2025.
