Bangkok: The electric trains have resumed operations on all routes, excluding the monorail, following disruptions caused by an earthquake. Meanwhile, the entrance and exit at Din Daeng Toll Station remain closed, as the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) continues to assess the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, the earthquake that hit on March 28, 2015, led to the suspension of electric train services and the closure of the Din Daeng Tollway entrance-exit. Additionally, a building under construction collapsed, causing severe traffic congestion. The BTS Skytrain resumed its services at 11:20 p.m. yesterday, with the BTS Green Line and the BTS Gold Line returning to normal operations. The MRT also announced the resumption of its services this morning at 5:08 a.m., with both the MRT Blue Line and Purple Line functioning normally.
EXAT has temporarily closed Din Daeng Toll Plaza’s entrance and exit on the Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway due to concerns over debris from the nearby collapsed building. Should the inspection of the building structure and surrounding area remain inconclusive, the inspection period may be extended. EXAT promises to keep the public informed of any progress.
Motorists are advised to avoid the Din Daeng exit bypass. Vehicles from the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway’s Rama IV entrance should use the Si Rat Expressway to reach the Phahon Yothin exit or the Rama 9 exit to access Din Daeng and Vibhavadi Road. Meanwhile, cars from the Si Rat Expressway should take the Phloen Chit exit to reach Asoke Road towards Din Daeng and Vibhavadi Road. For those heading to Bang Na, the Si Rat Expressway can be accessed from the Bang Sue checkpoint or the Khlong Prapa 2 checkpoint.
Separately, the National Book Week at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center has resumed its activities, opening for sales as usual today.
