Phuket: An Iranian tourist caused a commotion by using a syringe to stab hotel staff in Phuket, prompting police intervention. Officers eventually subdued the man using a stun gun. A room search uncovered four e-cigarettes.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident unfolded at a hotel in Mueang District, Phuket Province. Police from Karon Police Station were called to the scene after reports of the tourist’s erratic behavior, which included attacking hotel staff with a syringe.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the frenzied tourist, a 44-year-old Iranian national named Mr. Reza Farshi Bahman. He was armed with a long stick and a syringe, displaying aggressive behavior and making loud noises. Despite attempts at negotiation, the situation escalated, prompting the use of a stun gun to subdue him.
Following the incident, Mr. Bahman was treated for minor injuries and taken to Karon Police Station for questioning. A search of his room revealed four e-cigarettes, leading to charges under Section 246, paragraph 1, of the Customs Act 2017, related to illegal handling and possession of e-cigarettes.
