Bangkok: The Government Lottery Office has officially launched a new ‘Uniform’ system aimed at enhancing the sale of N3 lottery tickets, with plans for comprehensive sales implementation by the end of the year.
According to Thai News Agency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanawat Polvichai, a spokesperson for the Government Lottery Commission, and Lt. Col. Noon Sansanakom, Director of the Government Lottery Office, have detailed the progress of the N3 lottery tickets. The trial sale, which has been ongoing for over six months since the October 16, 2024 draw, has met its targeted outcomes. There is evident public interest in purchasing these tickets, and distributors are becoming more familiar with the process, including purchasing methods, prize drawing, and payment systems. Importantly, the introduction of N3 lottery tickets has not impacted the sales of the traditional six-digit lottery tickets (L6).
The initiative aims to provide an alternative for L6 lottery buyers who struggle to find their desired numbers. N3 lottery tickets, priced at 20 baht each, offer numbers ranging from 000-999 and the chance to win four different prizes. This approach is intended to address the issue of overpriced lottery tickets effectively, while also reducing the impact of informal gambling. The Lottery Office is committed to a gradual rollout of N3 ticket sales, ensuring careful consideration of potential impacts.
Despite the introduction of N3 lottery tickets, L6 sales remain unaffected, both in paper and digital formats. Sales have increased to 27 million tickets per period, with many periods achieving full sales. It is anticipated that full-scale sales will commence by the year’s end.
Lt. Col. Noon Sansanakom highlighted efforts to diversify N3 lottery distribution channels. Alongside the 80 Lottery Project and various digital distributors, including those for disabled persons, the office has enabled buyers to purchase N3 tickets through previously used distribution points via the Paotang application. The office is also piloting a process where digital lottery distributors wear vests marked with a QR Code, facilitating the purchase of both digital L6 and N3 tickets. This system allows for convenient repeat purchases from the same agent without the need for extensive travel.
