NBTC joins hands with startups to support the use of “Mobile ID”

The NBTC office joins forces with startups to launch “Mobile ID” to verify identity using mobile phones instead of ID cards, supporting private sectors to use it nationwide.

Ms. Poonsiri Nilkitsaranon, Assistant Secretary-General of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, said that the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Research and Development Fund for Public Interest (NBTC) under the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has provided financial support to the winners of the innovation contest project in using the mobile phone electronic ID card (instead of a card) for Mobile ID, which is a mobile phone identity verification system used in the process of identity verification or online identity verification that is safe, convenient, fast, and secure. It is an important innovation that will help the private sector conduct transactions more efficiently and securely. It also prepares the country for a digital society that is advanced and modern, in l
ine with the Thailand 4.0 policy.

For the winning company, Nai Net Co., Ltd., they have now started using Mobile ID with dental clinics, hotels, accommodations, and resorts. The second-place winner, Urban Room Co., Ltd., has started using Mobile ID. The “Mevote” platform helps make it easy for people in society to participate in order to encourage the widespread use of Mobile ID in Thailand, resulting in greater convenience for businesses, the general public, and the private sector. It is also another important mechanism to reduce access to personal information, which is a gap for fraudsters to use to deceive people and cause damage.

Mr. Tinkorn Laoraviroj, Chief Executive Officer of NaiNet Co., Ltd., the winner of the Mobile ID Innovation Award, revealed that the company has currently connected the Mobile ID system to over 2,000 dental clinics that the company already manages the back-end system through the “FD Dental Clinic Management Program: Verify Patients’ Identity via Paperless Mobile ID, Creating Sa
fety for Patients” and has also developed a Mobile Hotel so that service users can scan the QR code to check in with Mobile ID. The guest list will appear on the screen and the guest registration data of Hotel 4 can be sent to the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior immediately. It was developed to facilitate private entrepreneurs in all industries that require verification of the identity of service users, such as hotels, accommodation businesses, and office buildings. They can use it for free without any charges. You can register at https://app.digitalid.center/#/welcome from today onwards. After the launch, NaiNet aims for hotels and accommodation to increase the use of digital data transmission to 50% within 1 year, from the original 25%.

“The use of Mobile ID in the service sector not only helps reduce work processes and paper costs for business operators, but also increases convenience and safety for the public. They no longer have to leave their ID cards or copies with anyone
. In the past, Mr. Net has co-organized seminars to promote the connection of systems with Mobile ID, with over 200 startups, such as office building businesses that control entry and exit, as well as e-commerce and logistics businesses, able to register to join in order to further develop Mobile ID innovations for widespread use in the private sector. Therefore, we hope that this launch event will stimulate the use of Mobile ID in the business sector more widely,” said Mr. Tingkorn.

Mr. Tansorn Pornpanyapat, as a director of Urban Room Co., Ltd. and the second winner of the Mobile ID Innovation Award, revealed that the “Mevote” platform, mevote.org [https://www.mevote.org/], helps make social participation easy by defining the scope of participants with the Mobile ID developed by the company. From his experience in urban development, he found that one of the key pain points of the questionnaire and opinion-gathering system is the reliability of the results. Therefore, the Mevote platform linked to the verif
ication of identity with Mobile ID directly solves the pain point. In addition, participants who answer the questionnaire or listen to opinions online can fill in the information conveniently, ensuring the source without having to worry about security. In addition, the Mevote platform significantly improves social participation, especially increasing the proportion of participation by more than 3 times from the normal system, increasing the accuracy of the data, reducing barriers to expression, leading to a greater variety of opinions, reducing paper use, and reducing travel, etc., because respondents can access the questionnaire anytime, anywhere.

“The application of Mobile ID technology to the online questionnaire and feedback system is another example that shows the potential of technology to enhance work and services, making data collection for urban development more efficient, including use for public and private sector public hearings to enhance the efficiency of society, well-being and quality of life
of the people in the country. The company is open to interested parties to use our platform,” said Mr. Tansorn.
