Six Electric Train Lines Resume Service Amid Ongoing Safety Inspections

Bangkok: Six electric train lines have resumed service following a recent inspection, while two lines, the Yellow and Pink, remain closed for further checks. This update was provided by Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, during his visit to the Krungthep Aphiwat Station to assess the readiness of the transportation sector.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suriya confirmed that after yesterday’s earthquake incident, a thorough inspection of the electric train system revealed that six out of the eight lines are now operational. The Yellow and Pink lines, however, require additional safety inspections and will remain closed for the day. The lines will only reopen once their safety is guaranteed.

Concerns about the condition of Rama II Road were addressed, with Mr. Suriya stating that rumors of road waves were unfounded. The Highways Department conducted an inspection and found no issues, even providing photographs to clarify the situation. Construction on this road will occur only at night to avoid disrupting daily commuters.

Additionally, the Din Daeng Expressway was closed to assess the safety of a collapsed temporary structure, with discussions with relevant agencies scheduled for today.

In response to reports of taxi overcharging during the recent incidents, Mr. Suriya urged the public to report such cases to the Department of Land Transport via hotline 1584. Drivers found guilty of overcharging will face fines and license point deductions.

The ongoing transportation sector projects have been inspected, and no immediate concerns have been identified, ensuring the public of their safety and convenience.
