Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, revealed that during the season in the 3 southern border provinces, namely Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, there are a lot of agricultural products, such as rambutan, mangosteen, durian and longkong. Therefore, he has assigned the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to carry out a project to support farmers by providing a fruit transport service by train at a special price from Su-ngai Padi Station to Bangkok to help distribute products to the market and help reduce the burden of expenses and transportation costs for farmers effectively.
Mr. Wirit Amrapal, Governor of the SRT, said that in the situation where energy prices and logistics transportation costs remain high, the SRT has been assigned to implement a project to reduce the cost of living for fruit farmers in the three southern
border provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat by providing a service to transport only longan, mangosteen, durian and longkong with the special train number 986 from Su-ngai Kolok to Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) at a special price of only 2 baht per kilogram, with a minimum service fee starting at only 20 baht to help reduce transportation costs for farmers and distribute produce to the market and reach consumers quickly, with the starting stations from Su-ngai Kolok Station to Pattani Station. (Su-ngai Kolok Station, Su-ngai Padi, Bukit, Cho Airong, Tanyong Mas, Maruebo, Rueso, Raman, Yala, Khlong Sai, Pattani) and there are 6 terminal stations: Nakhon Pathom Station, Salaya Station, Bang Bamru, Bang Sue Junction, Samsen, and Bangkok (Hua Lamphong). The opening of such services is to facilitate transportation for fruit farmers to have cheaper transportation costs, which will be able to reduce the cost of selling products for consumers to buy products at reduced prices as well.
