Nakhon Ratchasima: The Treasury Department has granted lease contracts on royal land to 111 residents in the Sikhio District of Korat for both residential and agricultural purposes. Mr. Ekanit Nitithanprapas, the Director-General of the Treasury Department, presided over the ceremony to distribute the lease contracts at the multipurpose building of Khlong Phai Subdistrict Municipality. This initiative aligns with the government’s policy to address housing and farming issues for local populations.
According to Thai News Agency, the Treasury Department, an agency under the Ministry of Finance responsible for overseeing Crown Property, has repurposed land previously held by various government agencies. This move aims to optimize the use of Crown Property in accordance with national strategies to alleviate poverty and improve living conditions by addressing housing and farming challenges.
The initiative targets individuals who have occupied Crown Property since before October 4, 2003, without disputes over ownership. These individuals can now lease the land at concessional rates through the Treasury Department’s leasing mechanism as per the Crown Property Act. The program, known as the Treasury Project for the People, promises to enhance the quality of life by providing access to public utilities and services, generating income, and fostering economic opportunities.
The lease contracts involve plots registered under numbers Nom. 1873 and Nom. 1959 within the Sikhio District. The plots are designated for residential and agricultural use, covering approximately 445-1-54 rai across 128 cases and 185 contracts. This initiative is part of a broader project titled ‘Land Lease Contract, Changing People’s Lives’, which seeks to reduce social inequality and improve local economic conditions while enhancing the quality of life for residents. The project supports sustainable development and aligns with national policies aimed at resolving housing and agricultural land issues to benefit both the country and its people.
