105-Year-Old Thai Athlete Wins Fourth Gold at World Senior Games

Bangkok: Mr. Ta Sawang Chanpram, a 105-year-old Thai athlete, secured his fourth gold medal at the World Senior Games in Taiwan. Meanwhile, the Boccia Pattaya World Asia-Oceania Games have officially commenced. According to Thai News Agency, the 10th World Masters Games 2025 at Banqiao Stadium in New Taipei City, Taiwan, saw Mr. Ta Sawang Chanpram, the oldest athlete at this event, achieve a remarkable feat in the shot put, 100 years and up category. He clinched the gold medal with a record throw of 4.29 meters. This victory adds to his previous triumphs in the 100-meter run, javelin throw, and discus throw, bringing his total gold medal count at the competition to four. The Thai contingent has had an impressive run at the games, amassing a total of 29 gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals across various disciplines including athletics, fencing, swimming, and woodball over the past five days. In other sporting events, the 'Pattaya 2025 World Boccia Asia-Oceania Regional Championships' has comm enced at the Royal Cliff Hotel in Pattaya, Chonburi Province. The event, which runs from May 22 to May 28, was inaugurated by Mr. Pramet Ngampiches, the Mayor of Pattaya City. The competition features boccia athletes from 16 countries. Highlights from the opening rounds include Thailand's 'Jao James' Worawut Saeng-ampa, a gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, who triumphed in the BC2 category by defeating Kazakhstan's Alexander Kurmantayev 12-0. Additionally, Thailand's Pakpoom Linchum secured a victory against Khalid Almarashda from the UAE with a score of 16-0.
