Temperatures Plummet in Northern Thailand, Attracting Tourists to Misty Mountaintops

Chiang mai: It's getting cold in the North! Temperatures are dropping sharply, and mountaintops are freezing. The northern region is starting to get cold, with temperatures plummeting. Chiang Mai's lowest was 17 degrees Celsius, while many mountaintops saw temperatures drop below 10 degrees Celsius.

According to Thai News Agency, the lowest temperature this morning at Doi Inthanon peak in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province, was 8 degrees Celsius, down 2 degrees Celsius from yesterday. The rain stopped, replaced by cold winds, and the winter scenery on Doi Inthanon, with a large sea of mist covering the valleys, attracts tourists to experience the cold and mist.

Yesterday, more than 2,000 Thai and international tourists visited Doi Inthanon National Park. The temperature also dropped below 10 degrees Celsius on several mountaintops, with Doi Pha Hom Pok experiencing a low of 9 degrees Celsius and Doi Luang Chiang Dao reaching 11 degrees Celsius.

In the lowlands of Chiang Mai, temperatures plummeted to 17 degrees Celsius this morning. Similar to many other northern provinces, temperatures are also experiencing cold snaps as a high-pressure system, or strong cold air mass, spreads downward, dropping temperatures by another 1-2 degrees Celsius.
