According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred at 9:45 AM on January 14, 2026, when a crane used for lifting a bridge in a railway construction project crashed onto a passenger train, sparking a fire. The train was on the Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima route, passing through the construction site when the crane fell.

Emergency services reported numerous injuries, estimating at least 20 casualties, alongside the four confirmed fatalities. The incident caused damage to the train and fires in multiple areas.

Personnel from various agencies, including rescue teams, emergency medical personnel, and firefighters, have been dispatched to assist the injured, control the fire, and evacuate those affected. The rescue operation is ongoing, focusing on aiding the more than 20 injured individuals and investigating the cause of the crane collapse.
