Bangkok: The Prime Minister expressed his frustration and shook his head after learning about the repeated crane collapses on Rama 2 Road. He is preparing to call a meeting after agencies continued to pass the buck, claiming they lacked authority, and mentioned that the law might need to be amended.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that he had received a report of the crane collapse on Rama 2 Road earlier in the morning but was not yet informed of the details. He expressed his exasperation with the situation, indicating uncertainty about what actions to take next.
When questioned about whether the contract would be reviewed due to the incident that resulted in the death of two individuals, Anutin mentioned that he would direct Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, to convene a meeting. He acknowledged his awareness of the incident and expressed his intention to gather further details.
In response to inquiries about the necessity of reviewing the contract due to recurring incidents, the Prime Minister reiterated that there was a lot of blame-shifting and highlighted the potential need for legislative amendments. He emphasized the importance of convening a meeting to take decisive action rather than merely instructing agencies.
When asked about the possibility of a meeting at Government House, the Prime Minister did not provide a direct response and instead promptly returned to Government House.
