Bangkok: The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare has provided clarification regarding the awarding of the Outstanding Workplace Award for Occupational Safety and Health to Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited.
According to Thai News Agency, Rear Admiral Saroj Khomkai, Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, addressed the dissemination of the image of the certificate awarded to Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited. The Department seeks to ensure a correct public understanding of the award process.
In 2025, two establishments under Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited were recognized with the National Award for Outstanding Workplace Safety and Occupational Health. These include the Formwork Production and Service Center, located in Wiharn Daeng District, Saraburi Province, and the construction project for the second Correctional Hospital building in Chatuchak District, Bangkok.
The Director-General further explained that the application and evaluation for these awards are conducted based on specific categories, agencies, or projects. Each organization must have an independent occupational safety and health management system and meet rigorous criteria set by the Department. The evaluation considers safety standards, management practices, participation of management and employees, and safety operations results within a specified period. The criteria require that submitted work must represent the past two consecutive years of occupational safety implementation for industrial sectors, and the past year for construction sectors, with 30-80% of the work completed. Legal compliance, absence of severe employee injuries, and a policy of social responsibility in occupational safety are also mandatory.
Both establishments complied fully with the occupational safety and health management criteria and successfully passed the assessment to receive the National Outstanding Establishment Award.
The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare emphasizes that the award recognizes specific agencies or projects based on their participation and evaluation success, and does not constitute an overall company certification. The award-winning projects are independently managed and evaluated according to the Department's criteria.
The Department remains committed to prioritizing the safety, occupational health, and working environment of all workers, ensuring strict supervision and enforcement of laws to protect worker rights and safety, and fostering public trust.
