Bangkok: Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, also known as Ing, the youngest daughter of former Prime Minister Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, visited her father in prison alongside her husband, Mr. Pitak Sukhsawat, or Por. Accompanying them was Mr. Winyat Chatmontri, Mr. Thaksin's lawyer. Mr. Thaksin has been incarcerated for a period of 5 months and 24 days. The visit was met with support from a group of Red Shirt supporters who welcomed the Shinawatra family.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paetongtarn shared insights from her visit, stating that her father's health remains in good condition and that the visit was a regular update on his life. She expressed that the day was normal and that Mr. Thaksin is doing okay despite his current situation.
Ms. Paetongtarn reflected on the approaching date of March 9th, which signifies six months of Mr. Thaksin's imprisonment. She acknowledged the emotional toll of the time passed and conveyed hope for his parole release in two months. While she expressed optimism, she emphasized the importance of mutual encouragement and strength during this period.
In response to inquiries about her role in Mr. Thaksin's supervision post-release, Ms. Paetongtarn mentioned that further discussions would be necessary. She also noted that there were no discussions about the Middle East situation during the visit.
