Bangkok: Parliament was bustling as MPs reported for duty after the Election Commission announced the certification of proportional representation MPs. Attention is focused on Anutin Charnvirakul leading a contingent of MPs to report for duty in the afternoon.
According to Thai News Agency, the registration period for members of the 27th House of Representatives, which opened at 8:30 AM on the eighth day following the Election Commission's announcement of the certification of proportional representation MPs, was quite lively in the morning. At 9:30 AM, the Democrat Party, led by Mr. Chaichana Dechdecho, a party-list MP, was the first to register, along with six constituency MPs: Mr. Pitakdech Dechdecho, Mrs. Kanokporn Dechdecho, Mr. Songsak Musikong, Mr. Somchart Praditporn, Mr. Jomkrai Sawaswong, and Mr. Kanch Tuapong.
In addition, Mr. Surathin Phicharn of the New Democracy Party; Ms. Pimporn Pornphruthiphan and Warrant Officer Apichat Kaewkosol of the Bhumjaithai Party; Air Force Colonel Athikun Kongmee, Mr. Pongthawat Techadechruangkul, Mr. Achinathirat Chatthaweeworachai, Mr. Rachen Trakulwiang, Mr. Apiwich Thiprat, and Ms. Nawinda Sawaddetdee reported for duty.
The Thai Ruam Palang Party was represented by Mr. Wasawat Puangphornsri, along with constituency MPs Mr. Narongchai Veerakul, Ms. Pimpakarn Pholsamak, Ms. Chitrawan Wangsupakitkosol, and Mr. Somsak Boonprachom, although Mr. Wasawat will register at a later date.
As of this morning, 21 MPs have reported for duty, bringing the total to 156 out of 499 MPs certified by the Election Commission. At 1:30 PM, the Bhumjaithai Party, led by Prime Minister and party leader Anutin Charnvirakul, will bring its MPs to the Parliament building.
