Beijing: China has called for an immediate halt to military operations in the Middle East to curb escalation and avoid the potential for a wider conflict.
According to Thai News Agency, China's official Xinhua news agency reported that Foreign Minister Wang Yi, speaking on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) today, stated that this war is unwarranted and serves no purpose. The use of force is not a solution; in fact, weapons only increase hatred and lead to new crises. All parties must respect and refrain from violating the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Iran and all countries in the Persian Gulf. He emphasized the fundamental principles for appropriately handling issues related to Iran and the Middle East, and stressed the principle of rejecting the misuse of force, stating that the more powerful are not always right, and civilians should not be victims.
Wang stated that the people of the Middle East are the true leaders of the region. Middle Eastern affairs should be determined independently by the countries of the region. He urged against interference in internal affairs, warning that planning a "color revolution" or attempting regime change would not gain public support. All parties should return to the negotiating table as soon as possible, resolve differences through equal dialogue, and strive for common stability, emphasizing the principle of promoting political conflict resolution.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also called on major world powers to act in a spirit of justice and righteousness, and to jointly promote positive forces for peace and development in the Middle East. China is ready to work with Middle Eastern countries to implement the Global Security Initiative (GSI), restore order in the Middle East, bring peace to the people of the region, and restore peace to the world.
