Bangkok: Somchai Srisutthiyakorn has declared his readiness to testify regarding the contentious "barcode-QR code" issue on election ballot papers. This announcement follows a decision by the Constitutional Court, which voted 6:3 to accept a petition concerning the matter, allowing those involved a 15-day window to clarify their positions.
According to Thai News Agency, former Election Commissioner Somchai made his intentions known through a Facebook post on his page, "Where are you going with that? - Somchai Srisutthiyakorn." He stated that the Constitutional Court has instructed the 21 petitioners and the Election Commission, as the respondent, to provide explanations and evidence within 15 days of receiving the summons.
Somchai further expressed his willingness to serve as a witness, should either the petitioners or the Election Commission require his testimony. He offered to demonstrate the issues surrounding the barcode-QR code on ballot papers to the Constitutional Court without charge, highlighting his commitment to resolving the matter.
