Bangkok: The Center for Emergency Situation Administration (CESA) announced that violence in the Middle East continues to escalate, and efforts are being accelerated to evacuate Thai citizens. The Center for Situation Administration (CSAA) has confirmed its plans to urgently evacuate 10 more Thai nationals from Tehran to Turkey before their return to Thailand, while also ensuring the rights of Thai workers who died in Israel are protected.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Panidol Patchimsawat, Acting Director-General of the Department of Information and Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the situation remains volatile and has expanded from military targets to attacks on critical infrastructure. Reports have emerged of an attack on the Ras Laffan industrial estate in Qatar, a major oil and petrochemical production base, which could impact the global economy and world oil prices. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Thai citizens in at-risk areas to leave promptly, stay informed through official channels, and register with the relevant Thai diplomatic offices.
Mr. Panidol also addressed the repatriation of the bodies of Thai workers from Chaiyaphum who died in an explosion in Israel. The Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv is coordinating with the families and the Israeli government to expedite the return of the bodies. The Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran and Ankara are facilitating the evacuation of 10 Thai nationals from Iran to Turkey, a journey expected to take about 10 hours by land. Additionally, the Thai government is engaging with the Iranian authorities to ensure the safe passage of Thai commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and is urging for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Doha has confirmed that the 35 Thai workers in Qatar are safe and unaffected by the attack on the industrial estate. Since the conflict began, 1,209 Thai citizens have been assisted in evacuating from the Middle East, and the Thai government remains committed to further evacuation efforts.
