Bangkok: The envelopes containing the qualifications of the eight Pheu Thai ministerial candidates have been opened, confirming the presence of all five key figures.
According to Thai News Agency, while the main candidates have been confirmed, the list of new deputy ministers for the Central, Northern, and Northeastern regions is notably missing long-serving ministers such as Somsak. Additionally, a well-known political figure, nicknamed "Jae Duean," is absent from the list. Meanwhile, the Bhumjaithai party has issued documents for its prospective ministers to complete, with submissions expected by March 23, 2026.
The names of the eight ministerial nominees from the Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties were compiled yesterday afternoon. Government leaders verified the qualifications of these nominees with eight key agencies. For the Pheu Thai Party, the five ministers confirmed are Mr. Yosanan Wongswasdi for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Mr. Suriya Jungrungruangkit for the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Julaphan Amornvivat for the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Prasert Chantharawongthong for the Ministry of Education, and Ms. Sudawan Wangsupakitkosol for the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.
The last two names on the ministerial list are undergoing thorough background checks. Should any adverse findings emerge, the Pheu Thai party will be required to submit alternative candidates. The proportion of deputy ministers includes three representatives from the Northern, Northeastern, and Central regions: Ms. Piyarat Tiyapairat, MP for Chiang Rai; Mr. Watcharaphol Khaokham, MP for Udon Thani; and Mr. Akranan Kankittinant, MP for Kanchanaburi.
Prominent figures such as Somsak Thepsutin and Monporn Charoensri, who have served long terms, are not included in this cabinet list. Reports within the Bhumjaithai Party indicate that following the royal appointment, the Prime Minister has already informed the designated minister and provided them with documents to complete their personal information, with a deadline set for submission on Monday, March 23rd.
