National Artist and Renowned Novelist Pensri Kiangsiri Passes Away Peacefully

Bangkok: National Artist Pensri Kiangsiri, celebrated author of the novel "Nang Ay," passed away peacefully today.

According to Thai News Agency, her son, Pat Kiengsiri, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, stating that his mother passed away this morning. Pensri Kiangsiri, a National Artist in Literature since 2017, was known by her pen name 'Narawadee' and was an esteemed figure in Thai literature.

Pensri Kiangsiri was renowned for her numerous novels, several of which were adapted into television dramas and films. Her works include "Nang Ay," "Rak Gerd Nai Talad Sod," "Saneha Alai," and "Fah Sang Thi Klang Jai," among others. Her son's Facebook announcement, "Our beloved mother, Pensri Kiengsiri, passed peacefully this morning. Her love will always be in our hearts," received a multitude of condolences from the public.

In addition to her literary contributions, Pensri Kiangsiri held significant roles such as President of the International Association of Women in Thailand and served as the 13th President of the Thai Writers Association from 1999 to 2002. Her legacy in literature and leadership continues to impact many in Thailand and beyond.
