Tow Truck Used to Transport Unconscious Patient in Chonburi

Chonburi: Assistance was provided to a 200 kg patient who had collapsed under a tree. The body was loaded onto a tow truck and transported to the hospital. Dramatic scene! Rescue workers and a nurse performed CPR on a man weighing nearly 200 kilograms before transporting him to the hospital using a tow truck.

According to Thai News Agency, the Sawang Prateep Sriracha rescue unit in Chonburi province assisted Mr. Oat (pseudonym), 36 years old, a patient weighing over 170 kilograms, who was found unconscious on a bench under a tree at a house in Nong Kham Subdistrict, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province. They then coordinated with emergency medical personnel from Laem Chabang Hospital to investigate.

Officials continuously performed CPR and coordinated with a tow truck to transport the patient to the hospital. Because the patient was large and heavy, they were unable to fit him into a private car or the hospital van. Nearly 10 officials worked together, using mats to support the patient before inserting a wooden board behind them and using a crane hook to lift them onto a flatbed truck. During the operation, rescuers performed CPR until the patient was transported to the hospital, a distance of over 10 kilometers.

Mr. Somchai, the stepfather, revealed that before the incident, the patient was conscious and walked to sit on a bench under a tree. Afterward, he lost consciousness but was still breathing. He then called for help from paramedics and rescue workers. When the rescue workers arrived, they found his son was not breathing and performed CPR before transporting him to the hospital in a tow truck. The patient suffers from obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and a tendency to overeat and lie down without exercising. He had previously seen a doctor who diagnosed him with fluid in his lungs, and yesterday he experienced fluid buildup again. However, when the doctor called, they said he was fine. He was seen walking out to sit and relax when his condition worsened.
