Songkhla: Reckless teenagers posted a video of themselves firing guns in the middle of a field. A group of teenagers in Songkhla filmed themselves shooting guns in a field and posted the video online to show off their enjoyment. Authorities investigated the area and urged them to turn themselves in.
According to Thai News Agency, a Facebook page in Songkhla shared images of two young men testing a gun in a field. The first young man, wearing a red hooded shirt and a mask to conceal his face, fired three times. The first two shots jammed, but the third fired successfully. The second young man, wearing a white t-shirt and without his face concealed, fired the same gun once. A friend filmed the incident. Judging from the footage, the location appears to be near a busy road with heavy traffic, suggesting the shooting likely occurred during the recent Songkran festival.
Recently, the Border Patrol Police Unit 437 meticulously examined the video footage and gathered information from social media, eventually locating where the group of teenagers fired the guns. They found it was along the road beside the R.5 drainage canal (or R.5 Canal) in Khlong Hae Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, directly opposite the central mosque of Songkhla Province.
Officers at the scene found one spent .45 caliber bullet casing, which was collected as evidence. It is believed to have been used with an 11mm pistol, but it is unclear whether it was a genuine 11mm or a modified one.
Authorities are urgently searching for clues about this group of teenagers, including investigating witnesses in the area where the incident occurred, as they are likely the teenagers who were there. They are also searching for clues through social media, specifically regarding the posting and sharing of this video clip. They have begun to gather some information and will be tracking down those involved for questioning.
Teenagers who fired guns in this video or were present at the scene, whether out of recklessness or for whatever reason, should contact the police as soon as possible. Parents who know their children are in this video should also contact the police, either through the Chang Suek Song Le Facebook page, Hat Yai Police Station, or any other police station in the area. This will assist in the case, as authorities are currently gathering evidence and will proceed to the fullest extent of the law. Charges include carrying a firearm in public, firing a gun in public, and offenses related to social media.
