Ekaniti Pushes for Recovery of Funds for Thai Helps Thai Plus Project

Bangkok: Ekaniti is making strides to recover outstanding funds for the Thai Helps Thai Plus project.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanprapas, has revealed the progress related to the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" initiative and an increase in the welfare card allowance beyond the current 100 baht per person. The implementation of this requires an explanation regarding the budget source, a task currently being handled by the Budget Bureau and the Comptroller General's Department.

A Budget Transfer Act of 2026 is set to be enacted to reclaim funds from agencies that have either delayed or not met their disbursement targets. The Comptroller General's Department has established a deadline of April 30th to assess disbursement efficiency and finalize funding sources. Post-April 30th, uncommitted funds from government agencies will be reallocated to provide relief through the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" project. In addition to the Budget Transfer Act, the government is also contemplating other viable funding sources.

The exact number of beneficiaries and the prospective increase in the welfare card allowance will be ascertained upon reviewing the budget figures. A detailed proposal is slated for submission to the Economic Cabinet meeting next week. The "Thai Helps Thai Plus" project, also known as "Half-Half Plus," will commence registration in May with implementation anticipated to begin in June 2026.
