The Prime Minister of Thailand, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, held discussions with Singapore's Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister of Defence, Mr. Chan Chun Sing, reaffirming their commitment to work closely across these sectors.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting took place at the Government House in Bangkok, where both leaders expressed satisfaction with the existing defense ties, highlighted by regular joint exercises such as Cobra Gold. The discussions underscored the importance of continued collaboration in defense training and exercises, aiming to bolster trust and strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
The energy sector emerged as a key area of cooperation, with both countries exploring opportunities for expanding energy trade and enhancing regional electricity grid interconnections. Strategies to utilize renewable energy sources were also discussed to bolster regional energy security.
In the aviation industry, both nations recognized the potential for cooperation in aircraft maintenance and repair. Thailand's geographical advantage and human resources, combined with Singapore's technological standards, could pave the way for developing a regional hub for aircraft and military equipment maintenance.
