Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul has appointed Veerapong Prapha, a trade representative from the Paetongtarn government, as an advisor to the Prime Minister, continuing the role of Thailand's trade representative. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul signed Prime Minister's Office Order No. 104/2569 on the appointment of qualified persons as advisors to the Prime Minister to act as Thai trade representatives. This decision was made under the authority of Section 11 (6) of the Administrative Procedure Act B.E. 2534 and Section 4 of the Prime Minister's Office Regulations on Thai Trade Representatives B.E. 2552, which have been amended by the Prime Minister's Office Regulations on Thai Trade Representatives (No. 2) B.E. 2552.
According to Thai News Agency, three individuals have been appointed as advisors to the Prime Minister to act as Thai trade representatives. These appointees are Ms. Nongnuch Petcharat, Mr. Chutinthorn Kongsak, and Mr. Weerapong Prapha. The order for these appointments is effective immediately from April 27, 2026.
Reporters indicated that Mr. Veerapong Prapha has previously served as the deputy leader of the Democrat Party, focusing on international economic affairs. He also held the position of an advisor to the Prime Minister in Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra's government, where he was responsible for trade negotiations with the European Union (EU) and the United States.
