Bangkok: Mr. Rachen Silapraya, Director-General of the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation, has announced his intention to take a leave of absence to ordain as a monk for one month, requesting an end to public scrutiny and media coverage as his family has already suffered significantly.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Rachen confirmed his plan to submit a formal letter requesting leave in compliance with government regulations. He is set to be ordained on May 25, 2026, at Wat Pa Ban Tat in Udon Thani Province, where he will reside until June 23, 2026. This decision aligns with his long-standing personal plan to practice Dharma after his retirement, as he regularly engages in merit-making and temple visits.
Mr. Rachen clarified that the decision to ordain was purely personal and had been planned in advance. He expressed a desire for peace and requested that his ordination not be linked to any political issues or discussions about his professional transfer. Emphasizing his family's distress, he urged for the conclusion of all related matters.
