Sam phran: Heavy rainstorms battered Sam Phran district in Nakhon Pathom province, causing more than 10 power poles to fall, damaging several cars and injuring several people.
According to Thai News Agency, at 6:10 PM, police officers from Pho Kaew Police Station received a report of a storm with strong winds and rain causing traffic congestion. High-voltage power poles fell, damaging houses and vehicles on the road. Two to three people sustained minor injuries. Police officers from Pho Kaew Police Station, along with the Po Teck Tung Foundation (Chanthaburi branch), responded to the scene on Phutthamonthon Sai 5 Road, Bang Krathuk Subdistrict, Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom Province. The entire stretch of road was affected, causing severe traffic congestion as the fallen vehicles and power poles could not be removed. Traffic was closed from the bridge over the Sai 5 intersection in both directions, diverting motorists to the Borommaratchachonnani Road only.
Initial investigations revealed that more than 10 high-voltage power poles had fallen, with several vehicles still lying on top of them. Some poles had also collapsed onto the roofs of roadside shops and several houses. Three people were injured and taken to a nearby hospital.
Officials have inspected the site and cut off the power supply in order to remove the fallen power poles and reopen traffic. This is expected to take a considerable amount of time, so the public is advised to use alternative routes for safety reasons.
