Bangkok: The chairpersons for 35 parliamentary committees have been officially announced, revealing key appointments from the Bhumjaithai, Prachachon, and Pheu Thai parties. Ice Rakchanok has been appointed as the chair of the Budget Monitoring Committee, while Keng Wayo will oversee the Judicial Affairs Committee. Additionally, Boonying Nitikanchana from the Kla Tham Party will head the Parliamentary Affairs Committee, and Pitakdech Dechdecho from the Democrat Party will lead the Anti-Money Laundering Committee.
According to Thai News Agency, the announcement follows the House of Representatives' approval of the list of MPs appointed to these standing committees on May 14th. Each committee convened this morning to elect their respective chairpersons. The appointments reflect a diverse range of parties and regions, with significant roles distributed among various party representatives.
Mr. Rangsiman Rome from the People's Party will chair the Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights, while Ms. Boonying Nitikanchana will lead the House of Representatives Affairs Committee. Dr. Wayo Asavaruang, also from the People's Party, will chair the Committee on Judicial Affairs and related sectors.
In sports, Mr. Chakphan Piyapornpaiboon from the Kla Tham Party has been appointed as the chairman of the Committee on Sports. Meanwhile, Mr. Sarit Butnean of the Bhumjaithai Party will lead the Committee on Debt Resolution, Poverty, and Inequality Reduction.
Agricultural interests will be overseen by Mr. Noppon Lueangthongnara of the Pheu Thai Party, who chairs the Committee on Agriculture and Cooperatives. Transportation will fall under the purview of Mr. Suphanat Meenchainan from the People's Party.
Further appointments include Mr. Montien Songprach from the Bhumjaithai Party chairing the Committee on State Security, and Mr. Atthapol Trisri, also from the Bhumjaithai Party, heading the Committee on Consumer Protection. Financial oversight will be managed by Mr. Juti Krairiksh, who chairs the Committee on Finance and related areas.
Foreign affairs will be led by Ms. Chitrawan Wangsupakitkosol from the Thai Ruam Palang Party, while police affairs are managed by Mr. Watcharapong Kuwijitsuwann of the Bhumjaithai Party. Military matters are under the direction of Mr. Ekkarach Udomamnuay from the People's Party.
Tourism and natural resources are addressed by Lt. Col. Sinthop Kaewpichit and Ms. Kulwalee Nopamornbodee respectively, both representing the Bhumjaithai Party. Other notable appointments include Mr. Pitakdech Dechdecho on money laundering, Mr. Phatarapong Leelaphat on disaster prevention, and Mr. Asaphol Santraiphop on corruption prevention.
