Bangkok: "Chulaphan" reveals that 9 insured individuals were injured in the train-bus collision and instructed the Social Security Office to immediately provide them with their entitlements. Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, shared updates on the support being extended to those impacted by the collision.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chulaphan stated that the Ministry of Labour has tasked the Social Security Office with swiftly verifying benefits for the insured individuals to ensure they receive urgent assistance. The collision led to 8 fatalities and 32 injuries, among which 9 were insured, with 7 under Section 33 and 2 under Section 40.
For those injured under Section 33, the Ministry will cover medical expenses for the first 72 hours if they are admitted to a hospital outside their insurance coverage. Should further treatment be necessary, coordination will occur between hospitals to manage costs. Additionally, if hospitalization is prescribed, individuals can receive compensation for lost income, amounting to 50% of their daily base wage, up to 291 baht, for a maximum of 90 days.
Mr. Chulaphan explained that individuals insured under Section 40, who are typically self-employed, can access primary healthcare through the universal health coverage scheme, or the "gold card." Social security will compensate these individuals for hospitalization at 300 baht per day and 200 baht per day for home care with a medical certificate.
"I have instructed and emphasized to the Social Security Office to closely monitor the situation and facilitate the provision of various benefits to insured persons and their families, so that everyone receives the quickest and most appropriate relief at this time," Mr. Chulaphan said.
