Bangkok: The train driver was found not in the control room before the collision with the bus and before changing his hairstyle after going to the police station to acknowledge the charges.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Worasak Pisitbannakorn, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1, released a photo of Mr. Sayomporn, 46, the train driver involved in the collision with the bus, while he was being apprehended shortly after the accident. It was observed that he was not wearing the standard uniform of the State Railway of Thailand, but rather a t-shirt, long trousers, leather shoes, and had long hair.
After Mr. Sayomporn surrendered to investigators at Makkasan Police Station, it was discovered that he had cut his hair shorter. Reports indicate that his superiors sent a barber to cut his hair at his hospital bedside while he was receiving treatment.
Regarding the investigation into some CCTV cameras that captured footage while the train was in motion, some cameras captured the driver's cabin before the incident, but Mr. Sayomporn was not seen driving the train. Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into this and have summoned the train engineer or assistant driver who was on the same train as Mr. Sayomporn for questioning this afternoon.
