Bangkok to Offer Saturday Public Driver’s License Services During Summer Months

Bangkok: Public driver's license services will be available outside of regular business hours on Saturdays only, from June 13th to August 1st, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, the government is facilitating the process by offering out-of-hours services for issuing public driver's licenses, specifically on Saturdays, from June 13 to August 1, 2026, at the Bangkok Metropolitan Transport Offices Area 1-5. Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the Department of Land Transport is extending these services to help citizens with new applications and renewals of public driver's licenses. The service will be available from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM at the designated transport offices in Bangkok.

Applicants must complete an e-Learning training course before applying for or renewing a public driver's license. The necessary documents for the application include a national ID card, a medical certificate, a valid personal driver's license with at least two months remaining or a lifetime driver's license for new applications, an e-Learning training certificate, and for renewals, the original public driver's license.

Ms. Ploytalee noted that applicants who pass the physical fitness and written tests and have no criminal record will receive a license from the Department of Land Transport. The fees are set at 305 baht for public cars and 155 baht for public motorcycles. Additionally, for those driving public cars such as taxis, three 3-inch photos in a plain collared shirt are required for the yellow card driver's license, with a fee of 25 baht.

A public driver's license is essential for individuals working as public drivers, including those hired by applications. All drivers must possess a valid public driver's license, as non-compliance with the Department of Land Transport's regulations will result in prohibition from driving for such applications.
