Bangkok: The Prime Minister held discussions with Huawei to advance AI and cloud development and upgrade the skills of Thai people. At the Huawei Beijing Executive Briefing Center in Beijing, People's Republic of China, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul engaged in dialogue with Huawei's senior executives to discuss strategic cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, digital technology, and human resource development for Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the government's readiness to collaborate with Huawei as both an investor and a technology partner. The aim is to propel Thailand into an AI-driven economy, where technology will yield tangible benefits for the public, enhancing efficiency in government services, education, public health, agriculture, and urban management, while also generating new, higher-income jobs.
Prime Minister Anutin reiterated Thailand's openness to investment in future industries, such as AI, semiconductors, data centers, cloud systems, and high-speed communication technologies. He highlighted that Thailand is well-equipped with the necessary infrastructure, investment ecosystem, and industrial base connected to global supply chains.
Huawei executives expressed their commitment to Thailand, noting their 20-year presence and ongoing investment in digital skills development centers, cloud services, and data centers. They commended Thailand for its openness and potential, expressing confidence in the country's conducive environment for digital business.
The collaboration aligns with the Prime Minister's statement at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, advocating for AI governance based on Protection, Unlocking Potential, and Building Shared Prosperity.
Both parties agreed on promoting cooperation in two critical areas: the development of future-ready skills for Thai people through the Huawei ICT Academy Thailand project, partnering with higher education institutions nationwide, and collaboration on cloud and AI with government agencies and universities. This partnership aims to produce skilled personnel to meet labor market demands and expand AI and digital technology usage to enhance business efficiency, improve public services, and bolster the country's competitiveness, focusing on technological development alongside nurturing Thai human resources.
