Bangkok: "Omo-Popo" displayed a dominant performance, defeating their Taiwanese opponents to advance to the second round of the 2026 China Open.
According to Thai News Agency, the China Open 2026, a World Tour Super 1000 badminton tournament with a total prize money of US$2 million (approximately 67 million baht), commenced its first round (round of 32) on July 21st at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Jiangsu, People's Republic of China.
In the mixed doubles category, "Omo" Parkpon Teeraratkul and "Popo" Sapsiree Taerattanachai, ranked 16th in the world, displayed excellent form, easily defeating Wu Kwan-sun and Lee Chia-hsin, ranked 41st in the world from Taiwan, 21-8, 21-13 in 22 minutes. They will face Thom Gijel and Delphine Delroux, the 6th seeded pair from France, in the next round.
Meanwhile, "Title" Rutthanaphat Upathong and "Jane" Chernyisha Sudjaiprapharat, the world number 19 pair, narrowly lost to Gao Jia Xuan and Wu Meng Ying, the world number 34 pair from the host country, 1-2 (19-21, 21-15, 22-24) in a match lasting 1 hour and 7 minutes, unfortunately being eliminated from the tournament.
