Bangkok: Silpakorn University, in partnership with various public and private sector entities, has initiated 'The Silpakorn Legacy Launch' to promote intellectual property for economic growth. The event emphasizes the commercialization of research and aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders.
According to Thai News Agency, the event took place on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Central Pinklao Shopping Mall in Bangkok. Organized by Silpakorn University's Office of Research, Innovation and Creative Administration, the event was themed "Silpakorn's Legacy: Integrated Power Towards Commercialized Innovation." Associate Professor Dr. Sumont Sakolchai, Vice President of the Silpakorn University Council, officiated the opening ceremony. The objective was to showcase intellectual property with commercialization potential, encouraging partnerships among researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and industries including the National Science, Research and Innovation Policy Council (NSCR), the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME Bank), and Divana Group.
The event spotlighted 25 intellectual property projects ready for commercialization, spanning seven product categories. Key activities included the unveiling of research and innovation projects, a video presentation, a panel discussion titled "Research, Innovation, and Intellectual Property: Towards Practical Application," and an exhibition featuring products and innovations from the university's researchers. This platform facilitated knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration opportunities for businesses and interested parties.
The initiative underscores Silpakorn University's commitment to advancing research and innovation, transforming knowledge into economic and social value. By promoting intellectual property utilization, technology transfer, and sector-wide collaboration, the university aims to cultivate an innovation ecosystem that addresses national needs, enhances competitiveness, and positively impacts the economy, society, and citizens' quality of life.
