Lampang: The Lampang police chief has ordered a crackdown on the "5 Baht Technician Gang" for their audacious crimes. The Lampang Provincial Police Commander called an urgent meeting of police in the area, directing a crackdown on both the "5 Baht Technic Gang" and the "Lower Market" gangs following their persistent violent acts against the public, which have left them still at large.
According to Thai News Agency, this action follows the release of video clips showcasing the gang's violent behavior in areas under the jurisdiction of Mueang Lampang Police Station and Khelang Nakhon Police Station. These groups, known as "5 Baht Technic Gang" and "Talad Lang" (Lower Market), have been roaming and committing violent acts, generating substantial public distress.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Phumipanya Nawattrakulphisut, Commander of the Lampang Provincial Police, convened an urgent meeting with local police officers, initiating a crackdown on these groups of unruly teenagers currently causing disturbances. A list of over 10 gang members has been compiled, including both minors and adults. Their backgrounds, behaviors, and evidence are under investigation.
Pol. Col. Krisada Phankasem, Deputy Commander of the Lampang Provincial Police, stated that the gang's behavior had instilled significant fear and insecurity among the public. He assured that all perpetrators would be swiftly apprehended and prosecuted.
The "5 Baht Technic Gang" and "Talad Lang" consist of teenagers aged 15-20+, most of whom do not attend regular school. They have been involved in violent incidents, such as assaulting a worker in front of a durian shop by stabbing him with a knife and using a golf club, and stabbing a noodle shop owner multiple times. They have also committed other assaults against teenagers in various locations, with cases pending at the Mueang Lampang and Khelang Nakhon police stations.
