Bangkok: The Prime Minister chaired a meeting to discuss preparations as Thailand counts down 77 days until it hosts the IMF-World Bank 2026 meeting. He highlighted the event as a significant opportunity in economics, politics, and public image, and requested full cooperation from all sectors.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the meeting of the National Committee to prepare for the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Lavaron Saengsnit, and representatives from relevant agencies also attended the meeting.
Mr. Anutin stated that the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group will be held in Bangkok at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from October 12-18, 2026. With only 77 days remaining for preparations, this is a crucial period requiring cooperation from relevant agencies to expedite planning and ensure a smooth and efficient hosting of the event. This will build confidence among international participants, elevate Thailand's standing, and present opportunities, particularly in trade, economics, politics, and image.
The Prime Minister also reiterated that this meeting is as important as the APEC Summit or the ASEAN Summit, and therefore requested full cooperation from all parties.
