Bangkok: The Department of Business Development is extending its support for franchise investments until the end of 2026, with the government committing to subsidizing 50% of the investment and offering free sales space for six months. This initiative is part of the "Thai Helps Thai Franchise for Job Creation Plus" project, aiming to reduce costs for entrepreneurs and increase job opportunities.
According to Thai News Agency, the Director-General of the Department of Business Development, Mr. Poonpong Naiyanapakorn, announced the continuation of this project to facilitate easier access to franchise investments for the public. The project compiles over 100 standard franchise brands with investment options under 100,000 baht. Currently, the system supports 695 Thai-owned franchise businesses, contributing over 200 billion baht in economic value annually.
The Director-General emphasized that the franchise system is ideal for beginners due to its proven business model, clear management and training standards, and established brand recognition with a ready customer base. Investors are provided with continuous consultation from franchisors, offering faster returns on investment, business expansion opportunities, and easier access to funding from financial institutions.
It is advised that potential investors select businesses that match their skills, preferences, and market opportunities for continuous and sustainable operation. Despite the standards and manuals provided by the franchise system, entrepreneurs must manage the store and oversee daily business operations independently.
The "Thai Helps Thai Franchise for Job Creation Plus" project offers 50% investment support, up to a maximum of 10,000 baht per person. The project collaborates with Krung Thai Bank, the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME D Bank), the Government Savings Bank, and the Thai Credit Guarantee Corporation (TCGC) to provide loans and loan guarantees to participants.
Furthermore, the initiative has gained support from Lotus, Makro, and the Thai Fresh Market Association, which are offering free sales space for six months at over 10,000 locations nationwide to enhance market opportunities for entrepreneurs at the start of their business ventures.
Currently, more than 200 people have joined the project.
