Chonburi: A teacher was fatally shot at a municipal kindergarten in Nong Pla Nai, Chonburi province. In the wake of the incident, 44 children were evacuated to safety, as police surrounded the suspect's house and urgently negotiated with the suspect's husband.
According to Thai News Agency, the Chonburi governor inspected the scene of the shooting at Nong Pla Lai Kindergarten and ordered the school to be closed immediately. He confirmed that all 44 children are safe. The incident occurred in the Bang Lamung District, where the assailant fatally shot a teacher in the hallway on the first floor of the school building. This caused panic among teachers and students who were in the middle of classes. Upon receiving the report, Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong and Bang Lamung District Chief Anusuk Piriyomorn quickly rushed to the scene, taking control of the situation and coordinating closely with the police and local authorities to ensure security in the area.
Urgent information from the scene emphasized that student safety is paramount. Officials immediately evacuated all 44 students, along with the remaining three teachers and three school staff members, to a safe location. It has been confirmed that all students are unharmed.
The Governor of Chonburi Province has ordered the immediate closure of the kindergarten and dispatched a team to provide psychological support to the children and staff involved in the incident. Authorities are actively pursuing the perpetrator, who is believed to be the victim's husband. After the incident, he fled to his residence in a local village. Police have surrounded the house and are currently negotiating for his surrender.
