Bangkok:Professor Dr. Yotsanun Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, met with Uten Thani Technical College students to discuss their proposals regarding the use of the original campus site.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting highlighted the ministry's commitment to prioritize education, safety, and the students' future. The proposed relocation intends to enhance educational quality and ensure long-term stability. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) has facilitated online learning spaces for students during the transition phase.
Dr. Yotsanun, accompanied by Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul and Dr. Sriyada Palimapan, engaged with student representatives from Rajamangala University of Technology Eastern, Uthenthawai Campus, at the Joint Service Center. The students voiced their preference for the current site, citing concerns over conflicts and violence as the primary reasons behind the relocation proposal.
The students argued that relocation might be a temporary solution and suggested strengthening security measures at the current site. Dr. Yotsanun acknowledged their concerns, noting the history of violence has resulted in loss of life and necessitated previous security enhancements, which have not been sustainable.
The ministry reassured students of its ongoing commitment to dialogue and finding appropriate solutions that prioritize their safety and educational needs. Temporary learning spaces have been set up at the "Professor Prasert Na Nakorn Meeting Room," ensuring an equipped and suitable environment for online learning amid current activities at the MHESI premises.
