Phanat Nikhom:Police in Phanat Nikhom apprehended a suspect riding a luxury Ducati motorcycle, linked to the theft of gold valued at half a million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, officers in Phanat Nikhom detected the suspect while reviewing CCTV footage intended for flood monitoring. The footage revealed a suspicious Ducati motorcycle, which matched the description of a vehicle involved in a theft. The suspect, who had a history of five previous theft convictions, was subsequently arrested.
The investigation began after a theft on September 25th, where CCTV images showed a thin man wearing a black jacket, long pants, glasses, and a face mask entering a home in Thung Khwang Subdistrict, Chonburi Province. The man stole gold worth approximately 100,000 baht and fled the scene on a Ducati motorcycle, which was later tracked heading towards Bangkok.
On September 28th, police monitoring the flood situation spotted the same motorcycle at the Sukprayoon intersection. The suspect's clothing matched the descriptions from the earlier theft incident. Officers pursued the motorcycle to Highway 349 in Namatut Subdistrict and arrested the driver.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to two burglaries at the same house, stealing gold worth 400,000 baht in the first instance and 100,000 baht in the second, totaling 500,000 baht in stolen property. Authorities are now extending their investigation to recover the stolen items and explore other related cases.
