Government Waives Registration Fees for Disaster Victims

Bangkok:The Department of Provincial Administration has announced that registration offices across the country will waive or reduce fees for registration and national ID cards for 15 days to support individuals affected by natural disasters.

According to Thai News Agency, this decision comes in response to severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall in Bangkok and other provinces. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who also serves as Minister of Interior, has instructed relevant agencies to closely monitor the situation and provide ongoing assistance to those impacted by the floods until they can resume their normal lives.

To alleviate the hardships faced by affected citizens, the Department of Provincial Administration has directed all provinces and Bangkok to inform district and local registration offices about the fee waivers or reductions. This measure aims to facilitate quick access to government services, resolve issues related to essential documents, and reduce expenses for those suffering due to the disasters.

The period of waived or reduced fees will last 15 days from the declaration of a disaster area, with the possibility of extending it for another 15 days, totaling up to 30 days. The provinces and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration are responsible for disseminating information about these measures to ensure swift and efficient assistance is provided to disaster victims.

Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the people, stating that efforts are being made to expedite aid to flood victims in critical areas. This includes deploying personnel, water pumps, and relief supplies, as well as adjusting the compensation system through the National Disaster Insurance Scheme, effective from October 1, 2026, to October 1, 2027, to streamline compensation processes for the affected individuals.
