Severe Flooding Causes Devastation in Ratchaburi

Ratchaburi:Severe flooding has struck Ratchaburi, inundating several areas after just three hours of heavy rain, particularly affecting Chom Bueng and parts of Mueang district. Many roads became impassable, and residents faced challenges as they scrambled to protect their belongings.

According to Thai News Agency, the flooding caused significant disruptions, with fast-flowing water making roads difficult to navigate. Residents hurried to move their possessions to higher ground, but some could not act in time, resulting in damage. Notably, Mrs. Chanyanut Banburi in Hin Kong Subdistrict suffered considerable losses. Her 83 laying hens, typically yielding about 60 eggs daily, were frightened by the flood, leaving only three eggs collected today. Despite efforts to fortify the coop with crushed stone, rising waters forced her and her husband to create a temporary shelter for the chickens.

In another region, Khlong Suan Mak in Nakhon Chum Subdistrict of Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet Province, the water situation has improved, with levels receding. However, low-lying areas still experience standing water, posing ongoing challenges for residents. Fishing under homes has become a stress-relief activity for some villagers, providing both mental well-being and food.

Despite improvements, the flooding's impact lingers, particularly for the elderly and sick. To aid these vulnerable groups, the Deputy Governor of Kamphaeng Phet Province led a team to distribute relief packages, offering support and encouragement during this challenging period.
