Chachoengsao:Efforts to manage water levels are ongoing in Chachoengsao Province, where authorities are closely monitoring the situation following the release of water from Khlong Khuean District. The overflow system has been employed to channel water into irrigation canals in an attempt to mitigate flooding in Bang Khla District.
According to Thai News Agency, the water release began last night from Khlong Khuean District, directing water through the Bang Rong sluice gate into lower irrigation canals. This measure aims to reduce flooding in both Khlong Khuean and Bang Khla Districts. The redirected water is moving towards Bang Khanak Subdistrict in Bang Nam Priao District and Tha Khai Subdistrict in Mueang Chachoengsao District, causing the water level in Tha Khai Canal to rise and inundate low-lying areas, including Wat Pratu Tha Khai temple grounds.
In Chachoengsao city, several major roads are submerged with water levels between 5 and 10 centimeters, exacerbated by high tides occurring for the third night in a row. Although the water level in the Bang Pakong River has receded, water pumps are diligently operating to prepare for more incoming water.
In a related incident in Ang Thong province, a tragic event occurred in the Phong Pheng subdistrict of Pa Mok district. Officials discovered the body of Mr. Chatchai, a 50-year-old psychiatric patient, floating in floodwaters next to his residence. It is suspected that during a relapse, he accidentally fell into waters over 2 meters deep and drowned. While flood levels in Phong Pheng subdistrict have slightly decreased, many low-lying areas continue to experience significant flooding.
