Fire Engulfs Road Marking Truck on Bangkok Expressway, Leaving Five Injured

Bangkok:Authorities are investigating a fire that destroyed a truck used for road marking on the Borommaratchachonnani elevated expressway, injuring five individuals.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred on the inbound lanes of the expressway, about 2 kilometers from Highway 3. A six-wheeled Hino truck, equipped with a system for applying paint for road markings, was completely engulfed in flames. The fire led to serious injuries for three people, while two others suffered minor injuries.

The fire was reported to investigators from the elevated expressway police station, who, along with the Ruam Katanyu Foundation and fire trucks from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, responded swiftly to the scene. They found the truck's rear, which had a closed steel cage structure for housing the road marking equipment, fully ablaze. Fortunately, no one was trapped inside the vehicle.

Initial findings suggest that the fire broke out while the truck was on routine duty. The driver and assistant driver were alerted to the fire by three workers in the rear cab. Despite their efforts to rescue the workers, the flames spread rapidly, resulting in burn injuries to all five occupants. Emergency services provided first aid on-site before transporting the injured to Siriraj Hospital and Rajpipat Hospital for further treatment.

Authorities are now examining CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to ascertain the cause of the fire.
