Bangkok:The Royal Thai Police have confirmed that there will be no traffic closures during the upcoming IMF-World Bank meeting in Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepo, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, stated that while the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings will take place from October 12-18, 2026, in Bangkok, all routes will remain open to the public.
Reports have circulated about a document from Lumphini Police Station suggesting traffic closure orders. The police spokesperson clarified that the document is genuine but only grants officers the authority to manage traffic and ensure safety in emergency or urgent situations, not to enforce permanent traffic closures.
The Royal Thai Police assured they are prepared to maintain security and facilitate traffic throughout the conference without disrupting the public. They emphasized that if any road closures become necessary, the public will be notified in advance to allow for travel planning. However, initially, no road closures are planned. Due to the large number of attendees, the public is advised to avoid routes around the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center for convenience.
